Fridge magnets range in cost from about $2 to about $10. They are, therefore, inexpensive to collect. It's also an easy option to give someone when they ask you what you'd like for a birthday or some other occasion. Be sure to tell them your theme, though!

The art to a fridge magnet collection is the theme. Some collect animals while others collect cute sayings. Still others find that the souvenir issue becomes a moot point as all that is required is a fridge magnet to tell the world where they've been. Caring for magnets is minimal. A quick wipe once a week or once a month, depending on dust quotient, will keep them sparkling and attractive. When accidents happen, and one is broken, it's a quick and easy fix with super glue. If a magnet falls off and disappears into Murphy land, then it's easy to find a roll of magnet tape at a craft store, cut the necessary size, and glue to back of magnet.

What the Theme Says About the Collector
Like all collections, the theme of the collection will reveal something about the collector. Someone who loves to travel might have fridge magnets from many different countries and continents. Someone who loves to write or read might have a collection of quirky comments. Yet another, more interested in gardens and homes might have a collection of floral arrangements, while someone who loves pets might have a collection of dogs and cats.
