How to Chat on Google Plus. Tutorial

So you’ve been skyped? Well probably, soon, skyped will mean wiped! Welcome to Google Plus Chat feature. It offers everything that Skype offers. Only you don’t have to download Skype and have the occasional difficulties. Also, not everybody in your social circle uses Skype – believe it or not! Because most people know how to use a chat feature and because it is so simple to use, this is going to be real short! Incidentally, the difference between Google Plus HangOut and Google Chat is that the former is for more than one person and one can see who one is speaking to, while Google Plus Chat is one on one. You could probably use Google HangOut to video chat to someone if you had a Circle social circle containing only one. However, Google HangOut was designed for groups of people. And there’s a video feature on Google Chat as well.

Google Plus Chat Quick Tutorial.

1. Open up Google Plus.

2. Make sure you’re in ‘Home’. If not, it’s the first icon on top on the left.

3. Look on the menu on the left side of your Google Plus Home Page.

4. Scroll down until you come to Chat.

5. You will see the people who are online.

6. Click on the person you want to speak to. If the person has a red dot next to their name, it means that they are not taking calls and don’t want to speak to anyone. Respect that.

7. It’s not necessary for someone to be a member of Google Plus in order to chat to them. Their name will pop up simply if they have a gmail account because chat is a feature of gmail. You can choose to either IM voice chat or video chat. If they’re not a member of Google Chat, then you can invite them. Their name will come up simply because they have a Gmail account. Remember that what Google Plus does is combine all your different Google accounts and give you everything in one big overview called Google Plus.

8. Click on the appropriate icon – Chat or Video Chat, or simple IM (Instant Message).

That’s all there is to it!
